2024 Playwright Competition

Dominion Stage is pleased to announce that we are hosting our fifth annual playwright competition! To enrich our community and continue to be an inclusive place for new and continued education and personal development, we are looking for talented playwrights to submit their work.
Plays may be about any subject, but we are not looking for musicals at this time. The winning one-act playwright(s) will have their play produced by Dominion Stage as a free staged reading.
‍*NEW* Dominion Stage will be putting on a fully staged production of the winning full-length play as the final show of our 2024-2025 season.

CONTEST RULES
1. Participation is open to all ages.
2. By submitting a one-act play entry/entries, the playwright is granting permission to Dominion Stage to stage a free script reading of their submission.
3. By submitting a full-length play entry/entries, the playwright is granting permission to Dominion Stage to produce 4 performances of their submission. The playwright will receive $200 as artistic compensation ($50 per performance.) If for any reason the shows are unable to be produced, the playwright shall still be entitled to the full amount.
4. Entries should be an original, unpublished work.
5. Entries must be an original full-length play that is no longer than 2 hours in length, OR a one-act play that is 60 minutes or shorter.
6. Submissions must be in PDF format.
7. Entries may be any genre except musical.
8. Entries must be received by the deadline (November 15th, 2024) to be considered.
9. All entries are final.
